This thirty hour course is designed to teach you various paired, team, and whole class active engagement strategies that can positively affect student achievement and motivation. Through the exercises in this course, you will learn about and plan for implementation of active engagement structures that will enhance classroom community and unity, while increasing learner motivation in a FUN environment! The minimum time for participant completion of this course is 30 hours over at least three days. Participants must be logged in to the course for 300 minutes over three days to receive credit for this course.

What is this course about?

Empirical evidence proves that outdoor education is particularly effective teaching method. Participants in this course will cover the social-emotional, academic and community benefits of outdoor learning, and how students will understand the impact of their choices and activities upon the world around them and how we are interconnected. Some subjects covered include sustainability, program funding, The Adventure Experience Paradigm, and the history of The Great Outdoors. The minimum time for participant completion of this course includes both enrollment time and system logged in activity time. Enrollment time is a total of three calendar days (4320 minutes) from the moment of enrollment. Activity time includes 300 minutes logged into the system. This 30-hour course uses a combination of both time requirements to maximize participation and allow time for completion of ongoing assignments and assessments. Completion certificates are restricted until both time requirements are accomplished.

This course is designed to assist educators to identify strategies to reach both girls and boys in the classroom. This course will cover effective strategies and teaching techniques that are gender-specific. Upon completion of this course, teachers will be able to effectively implement these strategies and techniques in their own classrooms to better educate students of both genders. This course covers brain development, brain-based gender differences, gender-specific teaching strategies, and the benefits of single-gender settings.  The minimum time for participant completion of this course is 10 hours over at least two days.
