What is this course about?

This ten hour course is designed to help teachers facilitate the creative writing process from start to finish. Using Web 2.0 resources, teachers will be able to help students interact with the writing process in new and exciting ways. Completion of the course will help teachers develop a toolkit of resources to take the writing process from the brainstorming and drafting stage to final products and publishing! The minimum time for participant completion of this course is 10 hours over at least two days. Participants must be logged in for at least 100 minutes over two days to receive credit for this course.

What is this course about?

Young children first build their educational foundation through listening to stories and beginning to read and write on their own. Early childhood literacy is critical, especially for high-risk populations, to a student’s successful journey through K-12 academics. In this 30-hour, 3.0 CEU course (2.0 CEUs for NV educators), participants will: review the basic tenets of childhood literacy and its history in this country, discover the importance of early childhood literacy, review empirical evidence that ties early childhood literacy to future academic success, learn how to address the challenges to literacy in special populations of young students, and find resources to support and enhance early childhood literacy. Participants MUST spend at least 300 minutes over at least three calendar days (3 days = 72 hours = 4320 minutes) logged in to this course to receive credit.

What is this course about?

Improving students’ literacy and writing skills is not relegated to the ELA classroom. In Writing Across the Curriculum, participants will study the history of WAC and its importance and application in today’s K-12 classrooms. Writing to Learn and Writing in the Disciplines are included,` as well as how writing will change in the coming years.The minimum time for participant completion of this course includes both enrollment time and system logged in activity time. Enrollment time is a total of three calendar days (4320 minutes) from the moment of enrollment. Activity time includes 300 minutes logged into the system. This 30-hour course uses a combination of both time requirements to maximize participation and allow time for completion of ongoing assignments and assessments. Completion certificates are restricted until both time requirements are accomplished.
